By training, I am a Civil Engineer and a City Planner. I have always been crazy about traveling. Now, I have another excuse to travel. During my travels in the Greek Islands in 1998, I rediscovered my passion for sketching. I had forgotten what it was like to actually stop and look at something. I was captivated by the simplicity of the architecture, and the beauty of the surroundings. Instead of writing in my travel journal, I began sketching in it. This carried into my next trip, bicycling in Acadia National Park on the coast of Maine. I woke up one morning, and thought my family and friends might enjoy notecards made from my sketches.

Thus the birth of Sandesigns.

During the few years I lived in California I carried my sketch pad to Yosemite and the Wine Country.  I've been back home in Texas now for more than a decade and sketched the city I love, Austin.  I also tried to capture Texas in a set of eight images plus a set of spring wildflowers and a series on Big Bend.

My travels continue to take me all over the globe from Bora Bora and Cambodia to Antarctica and Zimbabwe.  Who knows what other sketch series may come from those trips?
