Woke this morning when the sun hit our tent.
It's a picturesque spring day in Yosemite, and
after all the snow last winter the spring snowmelt
is making for some extraordinary waterfalls! I took
off on my own for the morning and toured the
valley on foot. My first stop was Yosemite Falls,
the thundering waterfall cascading in two tiers
from the top of the towering granite cliffs and
creating a mist bath at the base for all who view
them. From there, I hiked to a great view of Half
Dome, then walked to the lovely little Yosemite
Chapel. On my way back to camp, I saw the
unique LaConte Memorial building. After an
afternoon hike to Mirror Lake, we cooked
burgers over the fire and topped off the perfect
day with s'mores. Mmmm. Better lock the food
away tonight - I hear there are bears in the
campground. We go to sleep to the sounds
of laughter in the campground and the smell
of campfires burning out.
